Feline Café FAQs
These are questions that we get often. We've answered them for you!
Can I bring my cat?
Unfortunately, no. Our space is dedicated to helping our rescue kitties and finding them adoptive homes. Adding a new cat to their space is a careful process and can be stressful for cats. Not to mention, cats don't like to be transported much!
Are children allowed into the cat area?
For the health and happiness of both humans and cats, no kids under 12 are allowed in the cat area on regular operating days. Lengthy discussions with our affiliated rescue about liability have resulted in this rule. The kiddos are welcome to visit and enjoy treats in the café area seating and watch the cats through our big windows! Kid's days and events are in the works, so stay tuned and sign up for our email newsletter to be notified:
Where do the cats come from?
We work with local rescue organizations to bring in cats that are healthy and well-behaved. Our café will be a calm space for them to live happily until they find their loving human. Information on the current rescues and adoption process is posted in the entrance of the café.
Can I adopt a cat from Feline Café?
Yes! Cats at the café will be up for adoption. Information on the current rescues and adoption process is posted in the entrance of the café. If you fall in love with one during your visit, you may fill out an application and follow the application process that the rescue has in place.
Why do you have rules in the cat zone?
Our rescue cats live in the café and it is our mission to give them a happy environment to thrive in until they get adopted. We have a maximum capacity of 10 customers at a time in the cat area to make sure that the cats don't get overwhelmed or stressed. As with many animals, cats dislike loud noises, being disturbed while sleeping and violent behaviors.
We do not take reservations due to the nature of our coffee shop, but we recommend visiting early in the morning (8am-10am) when it's less busy.
What is your menu like?
Our coffee shop menu focuses on coffee drinks, desserts, sandwiches and salads. We don't post it online because the varieties change often. But, rest assured, we always have sweet treats.
What happens to the cats at night?
Not to worry - cats are very independent. We will still make sure they are well taken care of before closing up for the night. The cats will be happy to have some quiet time at the end of a long day cuddling and playing.
Will I get cat hair in my food?
Unlikely. Most of our food gets made in a cat-free commercial kitchen off-site.
Will you have vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options?
Absolutely. We love all animals - our menu (for humans) is vegan and sourced ethically as much as possible. We will have something for everyone!
Is there an admission fee?
Guests can access the cat zone through the café. The admission is by donation, to offset some of our costs of paying for the space, caring for the cats and getting them adopted. You can bring food and beverages from the café into the cat zone, but no outside food or beverages are permitted.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
It is unfortunately not. Our building is very old and has steps to walk into the door. We've looked at ramps and there is not enough room for a wheelchair to turn it around on the step to get into the door. There is lots of space inside, but getting a ramp will not fix the issue of the entrance. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Can I volunteer?
Yes! We will need volunteers to help out in the cat zone. Note that we require volunteers to be 17 yrs and older. Fill out the form on our Volunteer page to get involved.
